Project Description:

A Hunter’s Cry is the sixth Adventure in Sea of Thieves. It focused on Merrick’s continued interrogation by the Dark Brethren, and the Pirate Lord’s attempt to recover Merrick from their vile clutches. Those who know Merrick of old have almost completed their preparations. The mission to sail into hostile waters in an epic finale to this trilogy of Adventures.

This Adventure took players through the Sea of the Damned to a separate world from the Sea of Thieves where they could arrive with other players and join in the fight to rescue Merrick. Players needed to defeat and evade the ongoing waves of guarding Ghost Ships and make it to the lighthouses where the players could use their special light beams to reveal the hidden route to Merrick. Players engaged in swashbuckling combat with phantoms guarding the lighthouses and participated in puzzle platforming to reach the top.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Introduced to the onboarding process
  • Involvement in the development of this project, from early production to release version
  • Implemented a balanced cinematic feeling using ship combat
  • Collaborated with other teams involved on the project; design, engineering, artists, content, audio, producers
  • Used new gameplay features which utilized lighthouse beams mechanics
  • Learned how to implement dialogue and text based features that support localisation
