Project Description:

Welcome to the West Midlands! The dense commuter network of Birmingham comes to life in Train Simulator in the form of the Cross City Line.

What is now known today as the Cross City Line, first opened between 1837 and 1885 as various unconnected routes. Even into the British Railways days, each half of the line, to Lichfield, Staffordshire in the north and Redditch, Worcestershire in the south with Birmingham in the middle, was operated independently with drastically differing quality of services.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Implemented brand new train; the Class 323 EMU
  • Compiled new Lua scripts to feature new gameplay on with the signals involved inside the route
  • Recreated reality inside the game by allowing more control inside the trains
  • Collaborated with other teams involved on the project; design, engineering, artists, content, audio, producers
  • Assissted with art changes on the route using 3d modelling software
  • Implemented localised text into the game and created game instruction manuals released with content pack
  • Created achievements used in scenarios and completed steamworks backend setup
